About

Maria Curie-Skodowska University (MCSU) (Polish: Uniwersytet Marii Curie-Skodowskiej, UMCS) was established in Lublin in 1944. Today, there are around 36,000 students, 302 academics (157 full professors), 231 habilitated doctors, 826 senior lecturers and 1829 teachers at the university.

The institution has created branches in other locations to fulfill the expanding demand for higher education. The Medical University of Lublin dates back to 1944 when the Faculty of Medicine was incorporated into the newly established Maria Curie-Skodowska University. The Faculty split from MCSU in 1950 to become the autonomous Medical Academy. New disciplines of study and teaching such as nursing, pharmacy and dentistry, have been added over time.

The English Language Division was established in 2001 to provide medical education in English to students from all around the world. Based on scientific and didactic resources, the organization generates certified and educated medical professionals by blending the principles of tradition and innovation.

As an academic community, it participates in market changes while maintaining the quality and competitiveness of the educational system. Its faculties include Arts, Biology and Biotechnology, Chemistry, Economics, Geosciences and Land Management, Philosophy and Sociology, Humanities, Mathematics, Physics and Computer Science, Pedagogy and Psychology, Political Science and Law and Administration.
