About
SOS Children's Villages was born in 1956, in the North of France, from an idea that was born in Austria in 1949: to offer orphan brothers and sisters a family living environment and the insurance of a lasting affective and educational relationship with an SOS mother, until they become independent. Today and for more than 60 years, SOS Children's Villages, recognized as being of public utility, participates in the mission of child protection in France and around the world. It accompanies brothers and sisters over the long term whose family situation requires placement. It allows siblings to grow together, in a family-like living environment, based on a lasting educational and affective relationship established by an SOS mother. In the world, the mission of SOS Children's Villages has expanded around programs to promote access to education and health. In total, the association supports more than 68,300 children, young people and adults around the world. It is a member of SOS Children's Villages International, present in 136 countries.
