About

Rural Education and Environment Development Centre (REED) –Nepal was established in 2000 as an Non-Government Organization registered in District Administration Office Kathmandu and affiliated with Social Welfare Council (SWC). REED Nepal was initiated by the first Everest Climbers who witnessed that children in the Himalayan region has been backward to the reach of basic level of education and felt the need to assist Nepal Government’s attempts for the improvement of overall standard of School Education in the Himalayan regions. REED’s activities focuses on imparting Quality education through Teachers’ training, child protection, Environment and climate change, Gender and social inclusion, and learning & life skills. Since then REED Nepal has been conducting its various educational programs to enhance the quality teaching and learning environment for both teachers and students.

REED Nepal has been working over a decade in the remote areas of Solukhumbu and Taplejung districts in the mountain region of Nepal where basic level of education was rare due to its geographical terrains and lack of knowledge over the importance of education to the local level. Thus, realizing the situation and the objective of the REED Nepal, it started its core activities by conducting teachers’ trainings to improve overall quality to education in all schools (i.e. 268) in Solukhumbu district and covering 30 schools in remote areas of Taplejung district. Some of the major interventions has also been carried out in Humla, Myagdi and Rupandehi Districts over the past to improve the quality of teaching and learning methods for both students and teachers.
