TUBITAK Marmara Research Center (MRC), keeps on working in Kocaeli, in “TÜBİTAK Gebze Campus". Within the body of the Centre, this aims at becoming World leader in science and technology manufacturing using its research, development and innovation capabilities seven Institutes exist, each with broad area of competence. These Institutes are; Environment and Clean Production Institute, Energy Institute, Genetic Engineering and Biotechnology Institute , Food Institute , Chemistry Institute, Materials Institute and Earth and Marine Sciences Institute.
Having the research capability and capacity, research infrastructure, world – class managerial and operating processes and advanced technologies of the world leading organization, TÜBİTAK MRC, with its customer – focused approach serves for the public , defense and private sector institutions and organizations and academic institutions and offer unique solutions to them . TÜBİTAK MRC executes these solutions with the help its abilities on basic research applications, applied researches and development, technology transfer, innovation, building systems and facilities, determining national standards and norms and professional consulting and training.
It was established in 1972 by the Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (Turkish: Türkiye Bilimsel ve Teknolojik Araştırma Kurumu, TÜBİTAK) in Gebze, Kocaeli Province bringing a number of research units of TÜBİTAK formed in the past under one umbrella.
The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey (TÜBİTAK) is the leading agency for management, funding and conduct of research in Turkey. It was established in 1963 with a mission to advance science and technology, conduct research and support Turkish researchers. The Council is an autonomous institution and is governed by a Scientific Board whose members are selected from prominent scholars from universities, industry and research institutions.
TÜBİTAK is responsible for promoting, developing, organizing, conducting and coordinating research and development in line with national targets and priorities.
TÜBİTAK acts as an advisory agency to the Turkish Government on science and research issues, and is the secretariat of the Supreme Council for Science and Technology (SCST), the highest S&T policy making body in Turkey.
