Founded in 2003 by Torsten Nordentoft, among others, CardLab has done extensive research in high security cards for more than a decade. Based in Herlev, outside of Copenhagen, CardLab performs as one of Scandinavias' most promising high tech firms. Working with several well consolidated international investors, we have developed a range of unique products and high tech solutions, several patented and already in use by card companies and card providers across the globe. CardLab provides its costumers with OEM sale of individual technologies as well as development of customer ordered complete solutions.CardLab’s costumer portfolio consists of international card issuers and financial institutions, supplying costumers with card technology in every step from idea to end product. More than five million Euros have so far been invested in our specialized development of highly secure smart cards.CardLab grew out of a project aiming at solving fraud and security issues in credit and access cards by adding a dynamic magnetic stripe and onboard biometric authentication to the current chip and EMV solutions. Later, these developments evolved into providing biometric solutions to the complete range of financial, access and ID cards used in present card solutions.

By 2006 it became increasingly clear that the card industry experienced a capability gap created by a demand for more sophisticated products and technological advances. CardLab began filling this gap by inventing and refining several new technologies for the payment- and access control industry. In 2008 these technologies were ready for production and in 2009 CardLab was the first company to mass produce powered cards.In order to reach this production stage CardLab had been involved in developing more or less all manufacturing processes for powered cards, f.ex. by participating in developing battery technologies, chip processing techniques and lamination techniques. At present, CardLab possesses not only the technological skills to develop complicated circuitry but also the capacity to perform all manufacturing processes necessary to produce these highly sophisticated cards and solutions.
