Centre Psychiatrique Sosame (Soins de Santé Mentale)

SOSAME (= Soins de Santé Mentale) is one of the only psychiatric facilities in the South-Kivu province, a region marked by the many violent conflicts over the last few years. There is a high prevalence of mood disorders among the population as a consequence of extreme poverty. Many patients suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disorder. Thanks to individual therapy at SOSAME, many patients can take up the thread of life again. In the meantime, a new antenna of SOSAME was set up in Uvira. Since 2014, there are already some consulations and hospitalization possibilities are being set up.
