About
Acid Survivors' Foundation Uganda (ASFU)1 was first established in 2003. It is a registered nongovernmental organization (NGO) that operates across Uganda with offices in the capital, Kampala.
ASFU’s mission is to support rehabilitation of acid violence victims through direct support forsurvivors and to campaign against further acid violence in Uganda. Direct survivor support includes medical support, legal aid, psychosocial support and economic interventions. The organization works collaboratively with a network of other NGOs seeking to end acid violence in Uganda through
advocacy and public education. ASFU works closely with the Government of Uganda and civil society to lobby for legal reforms, systems and services for the protection and promotion of the rights of
survivors of acid attacks and to develop an effective and efficient response to combat and eliminate acid violence in Ugand.
