IREPA's Statistics and Information Department, funded by MIPAAF, recognizes the need to improve and disseminate data that are collected, undertakes statistical development and coordinates actions at national levels. Since 2005 the Department has been included in the National Statistical System (SISTAN) according to Decree of the Presidency of the Council of 22 September 2005.

In this framework IREPA provides technical assistance to MIPAAF in enhancing its capacity to collect, process and analyze fishery statistical data.
