Yekom was founded in 1973 by Dr Farhad Daftary, Dr Fereidoun Mobasheri and Dr Ali Majidi under the name of "Yekom Economic Consultants" to provide consulting services in economic, social, commercial and management areas. The word "Yekom" meaning "the first" in Persian was chosen in view of the fact that it was the first firm established and registered in Iran to provide consultancy services in the area of planning, management and economical studies.
