The Ministry of Trade and Industry is responsible for formulating a future-oriented business and seafood policy. It involves influencing all policy areas that are important for value creation. It is the overall value creation in the country that determines the level of prosperity and welfare in Norway.

The Ministry shall promote Norwegian business and trade, and contribute to the sustainable management of the fishing and aquaculture industry. The Ministry is also responsible for shipping policy.

The Ministry of Trade and Industry shall contribute to the coordination of the work of various ministries to ensure a comprehensive, good and future-oriented business policy.
