Golden Plains Shire Council is a vibrant and progressive organisation, conveniently situated between Geelong and Ballarat and just an hour from Melbourne. A small rural council, Golden Plains Shire’s population is just over 20,000 people, with our main service centre, Bannockburn, growing by 7.2% per year.
Supporting our 56 diverse communities are hardworking but friendly staff, spread across four directorates, including the Office of the CEO, Corporate Services, Assets and Amenities and Community Services. While each area of Council has specific focus areas, we work collaboratively to ensure we are delivering public value through good decision-making and wise spending.
Over the years, Golden Plains Shire Council has continued to deliver quality services, programs, projects and events. Among these is the award-winning Golden Plains Farmers’ Market, a number of state-of-the-art early years services and meaningful infrastructure projects, such as the Smythesdale Oval refurbishment and upcoming Bannockburn Heart precinct.
Our organisation has three Customer Service Centres, with the majority of staff based at our Bannockburn Customer Service Centre. We also offer customer service at our Linton and Smythesdale offices.
