About

Founded in 1951 in one of the most beautiful districts of the capital of Cambodia, the Lycée Français René Descartes (LFRD) has welcomed many generations of French and Cambodians. Closed during the Khmer Rouge regime, it reopened at the start of the 1991 school year, on the initiative of a group of parents. The Cambodian government then ceded part of the buildings that belonged to it before 1975 to the French state (the other part is now occupied by a management university).

The LFRD is the only French establishment in Phnom Penh approved by the French Ministry of National Education. It is thus one of the 522 schools, member of the network of the Agency for French Education Abroad (AEFE).

An establishment under agreement with the AEFE allows many young people around the world to access French education, culture and diplomas, to follow the same program and thus have the best assets for the future.
