Archivio delle Memorie Migranti / Archive of Migrant Memories

The Archive of Migrant Memories (AMM) was born as a repository of stories, narratives and testimonies collected within an Italian school for migrants with the aim of supporting a therapeutic experiment initially carried out by a group of collaborative volunteers with Doctors Against Torture. The collection of stories and narratives began to take shape in 2004 among the foreign occupants of the Tiburtina warehouses, a large space then manned by several hundred asylum seekers and political refugees from Dar Fur and the regions of the Horn of Africa, then cleared by force from the Municipality of Rome in 2005.

AMM collects and disseminates self-reports and written and oral testimonies on migration. He makes audio and video documentaries, self-narration and anti-racism workshops in schools, also through the active participation of migrants.
