About

The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation is a public foundation that helps people invest in the future of Linn County. Their gifts do good work in the community…forever. The Community Foundation mission is to help donors give in meaningful ways, to strengthen nonprofits, and to provide leadership that supports a vibrant community.

The Community Foundation provides professional philanthropic services, expertise regarding community needs, strategic investments, grants and support to nonprofits, and leadership on important community issues and opportunities.

The organization was originally founded in 1949 as the Community Welfare Foundation and became a public foundation in 1992.

Today, the Community Foundation holds assets totaling more than $140 million and over 800 different charitable funds, large and small, established by families, nonprofit agencies and businesses. The organization awards over $8 million each year to nearly 400 nonprofit organizations in Linn County and beyond in the areas of education, human services, health, arts and culture, community development, and the environment.
