About
Porto Editora, leader in the national market, is distinguished by scientific and pedagogical rigor and superior editorial quality.
Since its foundation in 1944, the company has been dedicated to the publication of books and other products aimed at the areas of Education and Reference. The dictionaries stand out from a vast number of editions in the most diverse branches of scientific knowledge, always constituting one of the success stories of Porto Editora.
More recently, the publishing house has been equally successful in multimedia editions, both online and offline, offering products such as Infopedia.pt (the largest database of educational and cultural content in Portuguese), the Virtual School (the first e- learning program aimed at basic and secondary education), WOOK.pt (a virtual bookstore, launched in 1999 with tens of thousands of registered clients from all corners of the world) and DICIOPÉDIA, a multimedia product launched in 1997, updated every year, with which he leads in Portugal the production of educational and cultural contents in digital support.
The importance of their work is recognized both by teachers and other academic and scientific community, and by students and the general public. Aware of the social responsibility that comes from it, and as the main school publisher, Porto Editora is a privileged partner with the different agents dedicated to research and study in the various areas of knowledge, which is reflected in its vast editorial catalog.
However, Porto Editora decided to extend its catalog to other areas, with particular attention to fiction, making even more comprehensive its editorial work, which includes school and para-school publications (from pre-school to higher education, also with a focus on PALOP), through children's and youth literature, online and offline multimedia, and e-commerce.
