The Company was created in Barcelona in 1996 within the Agbar Group. Following a period of geographic expansion, strong growth in revenue and profit and ownership changes, it was listed on the Spanish Stock Markets in 2014.

For the previous financial year that ended on 31 December 2017, Applus+ reported revenue of €1,583 million and adjusted operating profit of €143 million and employed approximately 20,700 people in 70 countries. Revenue generated from outside of the home country of Spain now accounts for 80% of the total.
