The Center for Economic, Legal and Social Studies and Documentation (CEDEJ) is part of the network of Mixed Units of French Research Institutes Abroad (UMIFRE), spread over five continents, with a strong representation in the Mediterranean basin. and in the Middle East (UMIFRE map).
The CEDEJ is placed under the dual supervision of the French Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs (MEAE) as well as the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS) of which, since 2006, it has been a Service and Research Unit, the 'USR 3123.
The CEDEJ has the status of Financial Autonomous Institution (EAF) and is attached to the Cooperation and Cultural Action Service of the French Embassy in the Arab Republic of Egypt.
