Danner is a feminist organization - we work to eliminate violence against women by empowerment, and by protection, prevention and advocacy.

Violence against women and girls is the single worst violation of human rights. To fight this global and gender-based injustice we must stand together against violence.

We work to professionalize the response system for violence survivors and for a global society based on equality and respect. Protection of women and children’s basic human rights is at the core of our work and belief. As one of the world's oldest shelters with 40 years of experience, we want to contribute to the work within the field of gender based violence (GBV) with our unique experience-based approach to the work with exposed women and children. We work to make evident the structural causes of violence against women.

We believe that if civil society organizations are supported and strengthened to deliver professionalized services and to create awareness on violence against women and advocacy on behalf of survivors then violence against women is ultimately reduced. This is so because professionalized civil society organizations can play a key role in mobilizing political and public support for legal reforms that hold perpetrators accountable, provide support and protection of women subject to violence and promote social norms that renders violence against women unacceptable.
