Society for Women Action Development

SWAD emerged from the humanitarian and women empowerment activities by some dedicated women in the rural area of Puri district, Orissa in the year 1989. It got its legal entity in the year 1992. Since its inception it has been working in the field of Socio-Economic development of marginalized community, women empowerment, Disaster management program, livelihood promotion and gender equity.

VISION:

 An equitable egalitarian Just and harmonious society with holistic development of women and marginalized community.

MISSION STATEMENT:

• To facilitate the process of development of marginalized and vulnerable community with focus on gender equity.
• Reducing poverty as well as improving quality of life through capacity building, Improvement of livelihood option, greater access to self-governance and basic rights, services and needs.
• Ensuring environmental sustainability through local
   level initiative withstanding vulnerability and response to emergency.

STRATEGIC OBJECTIVE OF SWAD

• To develop the effective mechanism for greater participation and ownership of women, PwDs and Marginalized community in development process & reduce the gender disparity and social victimization
• To sustain the livelihood options of poorest of the poor and marginalized community.
• To withstand disaster and response emergency through community based preparedness & management.
• To build the capacity of the community for spearheading the process of development.
• To enhance quality of life through providing reproductive child health, safe drinking water and sanitation.
• To ensure environment sustainability through promotion and protection of natural resource base.
