Momentum Moçambique is a subsidiary of Momentum Africa.

Momentum Africa is a subsidiary of the Momentum Group with the latter being wholly owned by the FirstRand Group, a listed company on the JSE Securities Exchange with a market capitalization of over US$ 7.5 billion. FirstRand has in excess of US$ 100 billion assets under management.

Momentum Africa currently administers over 650 000 lives across Africa, with operations in South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Mauritius, Tanzania, Zambia, Kenya, Ghana, Mozambique, Swaziland, Malawi and in Namibia.

Momentum Moçambique is part of MMI Holdings Limited, a newly listed entity on the Johannesburg stock exchange (JSE) born out of the merger between insurance giants Momentum (founded 1966) and Metropolitan (founded 1897).

After identifying an opportunity in the Mozambican market for a healthcare management solution, Momentum Moçambique established itself as a healthcare administrator in 2005, and successfully launched the P’la Saúde health plan in 2006.
