The Children's Foundation

The Children’s Foundation assists client families with urgent needs such as food, housing, clothing, transportation, utilities, and childcare. We help families be successful and resolve emergency issues that might otherwise interfere with their ability to take part in the programs and services they are participating in.

As a non-profit social and community service organization, we recognize the roots of oppression embedded in colonialism and patriarchy. We acknowledge that we were complicit in the provision of care to indigenous children through residential and fostering services. We recognize the use of coercive and discriminatory policies and laws as a tool to continue the oppression of marginalized groups. We acknowledge the ingrained and systemic racism and xenophobia that has existed and continues to breathe throughout institutions, government structures, non-profit and for-profit organizations. We stand with Indigenous, Black and People of Colour.

 Children’s Foundation of Guelph and Wellington is a charitable organization dedicated to supporting the health, wellbeing, and development of children and youth in Guelph, Wellington, and Dufferin counties. Guided by a commitment to equity, opportunity, and community care, the foundation works to remove barriers so that young people can learn, grow, and thrive. Its mission is rooted in building a stronger future by ensuring that all children have access to essential supports and enriching experiences.

Its support focuses on programs that address food insecurity, provide access to physical and recreational activities, remove financial barriers to participation, and enhance overall child wellbeing. Through initiatives such as the Food & Friends student nutrition programs, Free to Grow, Adopt‑A‑Family, and The Little Black Dress Affair, the foundation invests in services that meet immediate needs while fostering confidence, inclusion, and personal development. Its work prioritizes vulnerable children and families who face social or economic challenges.

Its geographic scope includes the communities of Guelph, Wellington County, and Dufferin County in Ontario, where all programs, partnerships, and funded initiatives are delivered. The foundation responds to needs identified by local schools, social service agencies, and community partners, ensuring that supports remain rooted in the realities of the region.

The foundation partners with schools, social service organizations, community groups, local agencies, businesses, donors, and volunteers that contribute to improving children’s lives. It supports families directly through targeted programs and works with organizations serving children and youth to expand access to nutrition, recreation, and essential supports.

Funding is structured through annual campaigns, program‑based fundraising, community events, seasonal support drives, and donor partnerships. This model provides stable resources that sustain core programs year‑round while allowing flexibility to respond to emerging needs and ensure that children and families across the region receive meaningful, consistent support.
