“Roma Servizi per la Mobilità” (RSM), was established on 1st January 2010, through the partial division of a branch of the historical public transport company, ATAC S.p.A. RSM is fully owned and directed by the Municipality of Rome (Roma Capitale) and it supports the Mobility Department in the exploitation of its policies aimed at reducing the impacts of traffic towards a sustainable mobility system. RSM mission consists in planning, supervising, coordinating and controlling the processes related to both private and public mobility, sustainability and cycling (Car and Bike Sharing), urban freight distribution and logistics, including infrastructures and services in the city of Rome and developing ITS and infomobility in Rome. RSM guarantees and manages the issue of access permits for parking and circulation of vehicles within the Limited Traffic Zones in Rome; these include private cars, those for the distribution of goods and the tourist coaches. In addition, RSM is in charge of performing an effective information service to the citizens, to raise awareness on Sustainable Mobility and make more conscious use of public transport. Finally, RSM is in charge to research funding through the establishment of national and international partnerships for the development of innovative projects in the mobility and environmental sectors.
