About

The Language Council of Norway is the consultative body of the Norwegian state on language issues.  It is a subsidiary agency of the Ministry of Culture.

Language Council of Norway works to strengthen the Norwegian language and language diversity in Norway. The Language Council is the state's consultative body on language issues. It follows up Norway's language policy on assignment for the Ministry of Culture. The Language Council cooperates with public and private players on language policy measures, including the use of plain language in the public administration and business and industry; language for specific purposes, terminology and communication in Norwegian; the use of the language variants Bokmål and Nynorsk by government agencies, and Norwegian language technology.
