About

The "Initiative...e.V." is a registered non-profit association of public utility. It was founded in the year of 1982 in Bremen/Germany in context with closing down "Kloster Blankenburg", the Bremen psychiatric clinic where long-time patient were kept away from society far outside the town.

This process was part of a critical debate about the traditional psychiatric system of the time, being strongly built on a pure medical approach.
Even today, our main concern is to be part of a movement aiming to develop help systems for people with mental health diseases, drug addiction (legal our illegal drugs) and/or learning difficulties.

In all branches of our work, we aim to provide assistance for our users and to enable them to live due to their proper responsibility and to take completely part in social life.
