National Audiovisual Institute (KAVI) is subordinate to the Ministry of Education and Culture. KAVI is a cultural memory organization and supervisory agency whose task is to preserve the audiovisual cultural products of Finland and to promote audiovisual cultural heritage and media education. KAVI’s operational units have equal standing under an umbrella organizational structure with the exception of the special status given content rating, which is based on separate legislation.
