Počeci obrazovanja učenika (šegrta) datiraju iz druge polovine 18. stoljeća, točnije obuka učenika počela je školske 1854./55. godine. Šegrtska škola osnovana je 30. ožujka 1887. godine sa stolarskim, kolarskim, remenarskim, postolarskim, kovačkim i drugim zanatima.

Škola kroz godine mijenja nazive Zanatsko trgovačka škola, Škola za učenike u privredi i 1954. godine osniva se Centralna škola učenika u privredi kao samostalna ustanova.
