Mission
Helen Keller International Europe is committed to saving and improving the eyesight and lives of vulnerable people by addressing the causes and consequences of blindness, poor health and malnutrition.

Challenges
1. Blindness and visual impairment: Our eye health programs allow screening and access to treatment for the main causes of preventable blindness (80% of blindness cases are preventable) such as cataracts, vitamin A deficiency or refractive error.
2. Malnutrition: Our nutrition programs allow families to eat independently by consuming and producing nutritious foods throughout the year (individual or collective vegetable gardens, small farms, training of mothers in nutrition. and hygiene, etc.).
3. Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs): We work in close collaboration with the main players in NTDs, including the World Health Organization, to maximize profitability and integrate multiple interventions in the control of five major diseases: trachoma. and onchocerciasis (or river blindness) blinding diseases if untreated, as well as intestinal helminthiasis, lymphatic filariasis and schistosomiasis.

Values
1. Sustainable impact: Our actions rely on local partners to transfer our skills to them and strengthen existing structures.
2. Approach based on research and our long experience: We consider that the most effective operational programs and systems are based on the results of scientific research and knowledge of the field.
3. Equity: We consider that each person should be able to access primary care and a healthy and balanced diet for himself and his family; this in an autonomous and sustainable way.
4. Ethics: We are committed to managing the resources entrusted to us responsibly and to conducting all of our activities with integrity, transparency and efficiency.

Helen Keller International Europe obtained the IDEAS label in 2010. A vector of confidence for funders and donors, this label attests to the implementation by non-profit organizations of good practices in governance, financial management and monitoring the effectiveness of the action.
