MoNE Directorate General of EU and Foreign Relations Department of Projects Coordination Group

The PROJECTS COORDINATION GROUP was established under the title of ‘Projects Department’ in 1984 under the Directorate General for Technical Education for Boys. In 1988 it was affiliated to the Office of Undersecretary. The department was renamed ‘Projects Coordination Department’ in 1990. Another project implementation unit was established under the title of ‘Basic Education Coordination Council’ in 1998, also under the Office of Undersecretary. The two units were finally consolidated under one title, namely ‘Projects Coordination Center’, as an independent department under the Ministry of National Education (MoNE). In 2011 it was renamed the ‘MoNE Directorate General of EU and Foreign Relations Department of Projects Coordination Group’.

Our mission is to prepare and implement projects, working with both national and foreign resources, with all our beneficiaries in order to meet the prioritised critical needs of the education system in Turkey and of our Ministry. Our vision is to ensure that our department becomes a centre in which all projects that contribute to our education system reaching the highest global standards are properly prepared and coordinated together with all the stakeholders.

Sphere of duties

• To prepare projects, negotiate with national and international institutions for their financing, and implement them within the relevant line units of the MoNE
• To strengthen the project preparation capabilities of the central and regional organisations of the MONE
• To monitor all improvements in the subjects of education, science and technology around the world and to incorporate into our system the best examples from around the world by cooperating with international institutions
