7. Geographical Area Coverage:
IDEA has started project activities with the help of a foreign donor since 1996. The Central Support Office of IDEA is based in Sylhet city, while it has been operating field activities in 36 Upazila of Sylhet division in Bangladesh. In most of the Upazila IDEA has its branch offices. The names of Upazila are mentioned below:

IDEA envisages a socio-economically just and egalitarian society, free from all forms of discrimination, exploitation, and injustices.
9. Mission:
IDEA works with the poor and disadvantaged people in order:
- Help empower poor and disadvantaged people, establish their rights, improve their socio-economic condition, and enhance their livelihoods;
- Help reduce vulnerability, strengthen social protection and improve the capacity of women, men, youth, adolescent,s and children through quality education, human and skill development activities, health care, economic empowerment, climate change adaptation, and humanitarian responses for disadvantaged people.
- Help make positive changes in people’s lives at the local, national, as well as global levels through networking, partnership, and collaboration with government, national and international civil societies, private sectors, and communities.
10. Objectives:
· To ensure access and enjoy learning opportunities of children, youth, women, and the disadvantaged, and to upgrade their lives, livelihoods, and leadership through quality education, lifelong learning,g and human capacity development.
· To empower people by helping establish their rights, establish good governance in the service sector, and promote gender equality and gender sensitivity.
• To promote reproductive health and primary health care services for women, adolescents and children, and to propagate preventive measures, establish an alternative community-based health care system and promote WaSH in underserved areas.• To strengthen community initiatives through technical and financial alternative support services for poverty alleviation and improve the standard of living through vocational skill development, employment, and income diversification.• To conserve nature and environment and improve capacities of people on mitigation of disasters induced by climate change, natural and man-made calamities, pandemic diseases and others.• To build network, alliance and lobby with nationally and globally on policy re/formulation and implication of policies, democratization, governance, environment protection and conservation of nature, disasters and vulnerability, and management of common property resources etc.
