About

The Lutfia Rabbani Foundation was established by Mahmoud Salim Rabbani (1934-2002) in the Netherlands in 1979. The Foundation is named in honour of its founder\\\'s mother, in recognition of the personal sacrifices she made to provide for the upbringing and education of her children under adverse circumstances after being widowed at a young age and forced to leave her native Palestine in 1948.

In view of the above the Lutfia Rabbani Foundation places special emphasis on supporting orphaned students in the Arab world in need of financial assistance for their schooling and education. Its more general objective is to foster mutual understanding through cultural and educational exchange, and the Foundation has developed numerous projects and activities to achieve this goal. Since 2002, the Foundation is chaired by Salim M. Rabbani. It is officially recognized as an NGO by the United Nations.
