Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The BiH Border Police is the first multiethnic police agency at the state level. The administrative organization within the Ministry of Security of BiH, with operational independence, was established to perform police tasks related to the supervision and control of crossing the border of BiH and other tasks prescribed by law.

Despite the problems that were more or less present in all previous years, such as insufficient staff, poor infrastructure and insufficient budget funds for development projects, we have shown the ability to perform border control and surveillance of the state border in accordance with the highest European standards. Border control is performed at 83 border crossings, of which 55 are international and 28 for border traffic. Over time, we have become a modern police agency that has independently and cooperatively done much to combat illegal migration and combat all types of cross-border crime, which has contributed to creating and maintaining state border security, and thus general security in our country and its surroundings.
