NIS is one of the biggest vertically integrated oil companies in South East Europe. Its business activities include oil and natural gas explorations, production and refining, as well as the sale of a wide range of oil products.
NIS has two refineries – in Pančevo and in Novi Sad, as well as LPG production unit in Elemir. NIS produces around 1.7 million toe of oil and gas a year, with operations at the territory of Serbia, Angola, Bosnia and Herzegovina. The total volume of processed crude oil amounts to around 2.1 million tons a year. The Company’s retail network includes more than 350 facilities: petrol stations, filling stations and the network of crude oil storage facilities. NIS is a leading supplier of petroleum products in Serbia.
The Company’s accompanying activities include the production of drinking water Jazak and hotel and restaurant activities which the Company performs through the affiliated company O Zone.
The Company employs around six thousand people.
The Company’s registered office and its main production capacities are located in the Republic of Serbia, which is the Balkan’s trading and investment center due to its geographic position.
Most of NIS oil and gas fields are located at the territory of Vojvodina. NIS owns production capacities in Angola and Turkmenistan, as well as the company Jadran-Naftagas in the Republic of Srpska, established as a joint-venture with the company Neftegazinkor. NIS’s affiliated companies are located in Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Hungary and Romania, with registered offices in Russia, Angola, Turkmenistan and Brussels.
Gazprom Neft owns 56.15 % of share capital in NIS, while 29.88 % of NIS shares is in ownership of the Republic of Serbia. The remaining portion belongs to citizens, employees, former employees and other minor shareholders. The Company has around 3 million shareholders at the moment (as at 30 September 2011). NIS shares are listed at Belgrade Stock Exchange.
