Center for Research and Social Studies (CRES) is a non-administrative public establishment endowed with legal personality, financial autonomy and placed under supervision of the Ministry of Social Affairs.
The Center began its activities in January 1998 under the name of “Centre for Research and Social Security Studies” (CRESS), and had as its main mission the carrying out of studies relating to the field of social security.

This mission has been expanded since 2012 by virtue of decree no. 2012-1697 of September 4, 2012 to cover the entire social field in a global vision and responding to the post-revolutionary socio-economic context. Indeed, the center is called upon to assist in decision-making in accordance with the directives and priorities in terms of planning and reforms proposed at the national level.

It undertakes to work in accordance with the new Tunisian constitution and around the principles pronounced by the social contract, with the aim of contributing through its research and prospecting work to proposing avenues for reform and lasting solutions to the social ladder towards the establishment of an inclusive social protection system.
