VISION:
The vision of the school is to become a centre for providing quality education in the country.
MISSION:
Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School was established in 1961to provide quality Secondary School Education to Middle School Students in the northern part of the Western Region. Today the school provides Secondary Education to Post-Junior High School students from all parts of the country.
MOTTO:
The motto of the school is “MATE MASIE” a Sefwi Philosophical concept based on the principle that high academic laurels and/or social achievements in life can only be attained when “learners” accept humbly and adopt everything their instructors or mentors pass on to them.
BRIEF HISTORY OF THE INSTITUTION
Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School is one of the three (3) Public Senior High Schools in the Sefwi Wiawso District of the Western Region of Ghana. It was established in 1961 as one of the Ghana Education Truest (GET) schools with an initial enrolment of three (3) boys and one (1) girl. However, by the end of the year the school’s enrolment has risen to ninety-three (93).
Sefwi Wiawso Senior High School is situated at the northern corner of the Western Region and it is about 240 kilometres from Sekondi-Takoradi, the Regional capital.

MAJOR ACHIEVEMENTS OVER THE YEARS
The school’s academic performance has been improving over the years. For year 2008/09 a student in the school was adjudged second in Chemistry during a regional inter-school quiz competition. In the same period the school was second during the inter-regional debated. For two consecutive years 2008/09 and 2009/2010 the school placed first in the regional reading and comprehension competitions. For 2009/2010 academic year a student was selected from the school to represent the Western Region in Poetry recital in Cape Coast.
STATUS OF INSTITUTION AND FACILITIES
The school is endowed with 200 hectares of well-demarcated land on which can be found well-spaced out facilities. These include an Assembly Hall, Dinning Hall, Library, Computer Laboratory, Home Economics and Visual Arts Workshops, Science Resource Centre, Administration Block, a 3-storey girls dormitory, a two story boys’ dormitory, 2, twelve-unit classroom blocks, a clinic and a number of staff bungalows.
The school is hooked to the national grid and therefore enjoys a twenty-four hour electricity supply. The school also has a submissible pump which supplies water to members of the school community. There is also a hand pump which supply water in times of power outages. There are enough textbooks some are supplied by the Government with others being supplementary books. The library is also stuffed with enough materials for students’ use.
The school has a football field for games and sports. Students are able to reach parents and other members of their family through the use of community phone systems provided by VODAPHONE and MTN
