Lidon Building Services Ltd is a nationally owned company duly incorporated on the 3rd of July 2008 with the IPA. It is a Landowner based company operating as a Building & or Construction Contractor on Lihir island.

 The current address for correspondence is P.O.Box 77, Lihir, New Ireland Province with the land telephone and facsimile number 986 4747.The current place of business and office is on Lihir island in the Small Business Centre at lower Londolovit.

 2.0   Background Information

 Lidon Building Services Ltd (LBSL) is a Joint Venture Partnership. The JV arrangement is successfully being facilitated by (1) Mr. Peter TEPTEP and (2) Mr. Christopher MANI.

 Mr. Peter TEPTEP is a local Lihirian from the UNAWOS CLAN of KUNAYE #1 village. Currently, Peter is living and residing on his customary land at Kunaye #1 village. Peter developed a proficiency for Light Vehicle mechanical repairs during his previous employments and to date runs & manages a SME comprising a LV mechanical repair workshop in his Kunaye village.

 Mr. Christopher MANI is from LONTIS village on Buka Island in the Autonomous Region of Bougainville (AROB). Christopher is a professional Builder and has been active in the Building industry for the past 30 years. Currently in his capacity as Manager Operations, Chris runs the daily activities of Lidon Building Services Ltd.

 The JV facility is on a 50/50 percent, benefit sharing ratio. 

3.0    Company Information and Insurance.

 As an active participant on the various building & associated infrastructural contract works relating to the mining operation on Lihir Island or other industries LBSL needs to comply with all relevant & necessary statutory, public and legal obligations. 

The mandatory documentations are as listed:

 These are always UPDATED yearly and are kept CURRENT at all working periods of any one year.

Currently LBSL operates a Cheque Account Facility with the Bank South Pacific, at their Lihir branch. The Account Number is 1001 498 947 with its 2 signatories being Mr. Peter TEPTEP & Mr. Christopher MANI the two principal directors.

 The Company’s core line of business is within the building & construction industry. This is inclusive of all facets of trades associated within the industry.  

 4. Objectives.

 Lidon Building Services Ltd, the Company, was established between the two principal partners upon realizing the opportunities available in works & or projects being contracted from Lihir Gold Ltd (LGL) as major client, Government departments  and other Clients on Lihir island.

 The need to showcase local & abundant skilled workforce provided the major incentive for the Company to participate competitively. This has been a major contribution to the Company being awarded projects either in competitive tender procedures or as preferred contractor.

 The Company has and will maintain an all National Workforce which has been very successful in achieving high quality workmanship, excellent completion record, NIL lost time injury and a continued amicable working relationship with LGL and other business partners.  

 The onus to continued progress & development within the Company is a motivating factor & LBSL has and will always be keen to achieve these.

 5.   Capability, Capacities & Assets.

 5.1 Capability.

 Whilst LBSL as a company became established in mid 2008, the core of its current employees was involved in various capacities during the development of the Lihir mine operations. One of the principal partners of the company, Mr. Christopher Mani was a senior employee during the construction phase. He is at present the Operations Manager.

Senior tradespersons of various building trades are also involved in the daily schedule of the Company. In addition a comprehensive database of tradespersons is available and these can be mobilized to site if there is a requirement.

A major component in the Company’s evolution is the job training and work exposure exercise that is routinely maintained. Almost 60 – 70% of its employee’s are young and inexperienced. The Company has maintained this training regime since inception.

 As such on the strength of its stable & solid workforce, the Company believes it can progress into a vibrant, competitive and successful organization.

Company employee’s recruited from outside of Lihir are accommodated on its premises on the outskirts of Kunaye #1 village. The camp area of approximately 0.40 ha caters for a 11 x 2 men room dormitory, kitchen, messing and associated ablution facilities. A VDS H65 residential unit is also utilized for senior staff within the camp area. All accommodation units are fully furnished and well maintained.
