IPG was established in 1973, initially as conceptual/ feasibility consultancy body, while more recently it has been focused on expanding its activity in Italian and international markets as engineering/consultancy & research group. IPG engineering/research organization is centered around a team of high level technical experts and project managers, which can provide feasibility studies, research activities, front end engineering and detailed engineering and also construction, where the latter activities are carried out mainly through a network of firms associated to IPG. IPG has close collaboration with the foremost Universities (Polytechnic Institute of Milan, Warwick University UK , etc.). IPG clients are Edison , Mitsui Babcock, Snam Progetti Spa, Siemens, Lurgi Italiana Spa, Stf Spa, ABB Sadelmi Spa and other Italian and foreign companies. IPG is also collaborating with ENEL Spa Italy and Advantica (formerly British Gas Technology Center).
