About

On the air since March 1996, TV Escola is an exclusive channel of the Ministry of Education of Brazil, via satellite, with programming aimed at training and permanent updating of teachers, as well as support for classroom activities. The program, broadcast from Monday to Friday, lasts five hours and repeats four times a day.

All elementary schools (1st to 8th grades) with more than 100 students, registered with the FNDE (National Fund for the Development of Education), receive funds for the purchase of basic technological equipment, consisting of a satellite dish, color television set, VCR, a stand for TV and video, and a box with 10 units of VHS tapes. TV Escola broadcasts the programs by open signal, not encoded, to allow access to a greater number of people. That is why the reception of programming is free for individuals and institutions that have a TV and satellite dish, including private schools.
