UniRef - Swiss International Humanitarian Organization is a Swiss recognized charity whose main aim is to provide young refugees with access to a free university education. To this end, UniRef is committed to: - Offer quality university education to refugee populations under the protection of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) and the Red Crescent. - Offer programs adapted to the local socio-economic context. - Promote the regional integration of refugees. - Encourage North / South cooperation through the creation of academic partnerships. - Train local teachers, guarantee them employment and continuous training. - Encourage women's participation in the project with the aim of increasing the number of women with access to university education. The first UniRef mission takes place in Burundi, in the UNHCR refugee camp in Musasa. UniRef's second mission is in Jordan, in partnership with the Red Crescent. 25% of the available places within the University will be allocated to the host community.
