About

The Syrian INGO Regional Forum (SIRF) was formed in April 2013 by over 30 INGOs to give voice to INGOs conducting regional humanitarian responses in response to the Syrian crisis. Member organizations have gathered regularly since the inception to discuss priority issues, coordinate, share information.

The Forum pursues four key aims:

  1. Provide joint messaging to: regional bodies, the donor community, refugee host governments in general, UN agencies and, when not better served by Country Fora, country bodies, through drawing together advocacy messages from Country Fora and acting as a conduit to worldwide advocacy efforts on the Syrian crisis.
  2. Inform members of advocacy opportunities with respect to international bodies, UN agencies and donors, and, where possible, present agreed messaging.
  3. To appoint representatives on behalf of the Forum to regional initiatives relevant to the Syrian crisis.
  4. Until a more suitable body is established, to facilitate the exchange and coordination of information on humanitarian assistance in Syria.

where the Information Coordinator will focus on Aims 2 and 4.
