Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR)

The Partnership for African Social and Governance Research (PASGR) is a non-governmental organization established in 2011 in Nairobi, Kenya that operates in over 12 African countries with the main goal of improving the quality of research in governance and public policy.

PASGR envisions a vibrant African social science community and, in order to realize this vision, it has set up the appropriate mix of universities, public and research institutions and policy actors to forge partnerships at the national and international levels, fostering the creation of policy and research communities and strengthening the institutionalization of a research culture across African universities and research organizations. The main objectives of PASGR are to intensify strategies that advance the recognition, identity and resilience of the organization, promote gender equity and diversity in its programs, stimulate generation and policy uptake, promote higher education research and training as well as graduate-level teaching and practice of social science research and public policy. PASGR strives to not only build capacity and enhance excellence but also raise awareness of the need to place governance, social policy and social development at the centre of public policy practice and theory. Some of its implemented initiatives include MRPP, PedaL, Doctoral Programme in Public Policy, ARD, MMRC, etc.
