SKL International is one of Sweden’s leading organisations in the field of local democracy, decentralisation and local governance. We work with developing countries and countries in transition.

We are a subsidiary of the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR), which is a member organisation for all of Sweden’s 290 municipalities and 20 county councils and regions. Its mission is to provide its members with better conditions for local and regional self-government. This puts us in a unique position as we can draw on their expertise and network of Swedish local and regional authorities.
