About
The Association of Municipalities of Kosovo (AKK) was formed on June 30, 2001. The establishment of the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo is based on Article 10 of the European Charter of Local Self-Government within the Council of Europe (right to association). The Association of Municipalities is also foreseen by the Law on Local Self-Government.
AKK is an organization that represents the general interests of local authorities. The mission of the Association of Municipalities of Kosovo is to create efficient, sustainable and democratic local governance through joint efforts with the municipalities and through them, to achieve a high quality performance in serving the needs of its members.
AKK's field of activity is concentrated in two basic segments for local government. The first segment is about protecting the interests of the municipalities, the second segment is about representing the interests of the municipalities in relation to the central level and in terms of international representation.
