Fullwell Mill

Fullwell Mill Ltd (formerly FM Foods Ltd) was founded by Richard Friend and Peter Fawcett in the early 1990s.  Based in Sunderland they specialized in manufacturing hand-made health and sports-nutrition products. Around the same time Tropical Wholefoods was founded by Adam Brett and Kate Sebag with the aim of selling Fairtrade and Organic food products from Uganda into European markets.  

In 2001, these four people came together as owners and directors of a single business. From the outset they combined conventional business principles with broader social aims. FM championed Fairtrade before the Fairtrade Foundation was established in the UK, indeed before Fairtrade really existed as a consumer concept. Organic farming methods have been embedded throughout its supply chain. FM is proud of this history and the contribution it has made to the Fairtrade and Organic movements over the years.The company has developed links with key partner businesses in many developing countries from which to source raw materials that could be packaged and processed at the factory in Sunderland.
