As part of its public health service mission, the INSP is responsible for:

training in public health and community medicine;

biomedical and social health research;

health service provision (in support of training and research);

monitoring of activities and evaluation of the impact of health programs and projects on populations;

participate in the study of public health problems and seek appropriate forms of health action for their solutio;

participate in the development, monitoring and evaluation of the impact of national public health programs and projects;

train and retrain in public health all persons contributing to the health and social protection of the population;

undertake research in public health of a medico-social and community nature;

provide public health advice to public authorities (municipalities, general councils ... etc).
