About

The Croatian Association of the Deaf and Hard of Hearing has been in operation since 1921. It covers 24 core organizations with over 12,000 members registered. It carries out its care and activities for about 80,000 deaf and hard of hearing people in Croatia. Since its foundation, the Alliance has been a member of a number of national and international associations and institutions such as the World Federation of Deaf (HSGN is one of the founders), the European Union of Deaf, the International Federation of Hard of Hearing, the European Federation of Hard of Hearing with disabilities in Croatia.

The goal of the Alliance's action is to overcome the communication difficulties caused by deafness manifested in the disadvantaged social and cultural position of deaf and hard of hearing citizens. The Alliance coordinates and directs the activities and cooperation of member associations and proposes and organizes actions of common interest for the fullest possible social protection of hearing impaired persons.
