iSPACE

Research Studios Austria FG (RSA) currently has 7 studios with different specializations in IT-related research. The Studio iSPACE is dedicated to Geoinformatics and GISience research and is spearheaded by Prof. Dr. Thomas Blaschke.

RSA is an Austrian nonprofit research institution, which receives basic funding from the Ministry of Science and Research to foster the cooperation between science and economy. It is meant to manage the innovation pipelining between universities and markets. \\\\\\\"Studios\\\\\\\" are flexible research units closely related to Universities and to economy. They are established at places, where certain competences exist at a local university and where local markets are fostering the development.

Salzburg is worldwide known for its Geoinformatics and GIScience competency. The studio iSPACE is located in Salzburg close to Z_GIS, the Centre for Geoinformatics at the University of Salzburg and the GIScience Institute of the Austrian Academy of Sciences. It is member of the GIS-cluster Salzburg and AGEO, the Austrian Umbrella organization for Geographic Information. iSPACE cooperates closely with companies, especially SMEs in Salzburg and elsewhere whereby both side profit from the synergies in RTD.
