The first attestations regarding the Romanian Police date from the time of Neagoe Basarab or Mihai Viteazu (the creation of the institution of the agency), it continues with the reign of Mihai Sutzu (organizing the guard of the Capital, issuing the first identity documents and regulating the port of arms) and from 1806, the guard bodies and orders from the Capital receive the generic name of POLICE.
In 1821, Tudor Vladimirescu granted exemptions from taxes and taxes to those charged with maintaining public order and defending the property of citizens, and in 1831, through the Organic Regulations, the powers of the police are extended. During the Revolution of 1848 the reorganization of the police takes place, by the appearance of the institution of the head of the police of the Capital to which the Municipal Guard is subordinated.
