Since 8 July 2013, the NNID Foundation has been committed to gender diversity in general and intersex in particular. Both words mean that the biological sex is a spectrum with infinitely many variations. intersex

Sociologists, lawyers, and biologists speak of intersex, while physicians and other health professionals usually speak of DSD (Disorders/ Differences of Sex Development ). The words differ, but they do refer to largely the same group of people. The words represent different approaches to gender diversity. Proponents of the human rights approach (intersex) often use the same words as proponents of the medical approach (DSD). But both groups speak a different language. The NNID Foundation is committed to the human rights approach in society and also to healthcare that is accessible to intersex people.
