Abt Associates (Malawi)

Abt Associates is carrying out a five-year, $10 million project to support Malawi’s Ministry of Health (MOH) in improving the nation’s health system. The Support for Service Delivery Integration – Systems (SSDI-Systems) Project is one of three that make up the U.S. Agency for International Development’s (USAID) flagship program to improve the availability and quality of health services in Malawi. SSDI-Systems is designed to provide targeted technical expertise to the MOH at national, zonal and district levels to build capacity for policy development and implementation and strengthen leadership and management capacity in support of planning, monitoring, supervision and quality assurance. The project is also undertaking interventions to improve the ministry’s use of routine health information, strengthen capacity for improved allocation and use of financial resources in the health sector, and foster more effective practices for management of human resources in the health sector. The SSDI-Systems team works in close collaboration with USAID’s other implementing partners to support and complement implementation of Malawi’s National Health Sector Strategic Plan 2011-2016, under the leadership of the MOH.
