About
The Association of Indian Ocean Islands Ports (L’Association des ports des îles de l’océan Indien – APIOI) was created on May 8, 2007 in Tamatave, Madagascar, with the aim of creating a cooperation dynamic between the ports of the region, in order to better defend their common interests and jointly study the challenges and opportunities facing them.
APIOI’s projects focus on activities related to fishing, yachting, sustainable development, training, security and safety within ports. Cruise industry is also an important area of cooperation between the different port authorities and is the subject matter of a specific committee set up within the association.
Today it brings together the ports of Moroni, Mutsamudu, Boingoma, Victoria, Port Louis, Ehoala, Toamasina, Longoni, as well as the Grand Port Maritime de La Réunion, its headquarters. The collective observations carried out by the member ports of the association, promote the establishment of common objectives and to act in a concerted manner for the development of the whole region.
